Red Lion has extended the functionality of the Modular Controller by developing a PID control module for strain gage signals. The model CSSG can be used in a variety of applications ranging from simple load cell measurement to closed-loop pressure control in extruder applications.

With a programmable input range and excitation voltage, the CSSG can be used with virtually any pressure sensor or load cell with a strain gage output. This allows accurate measurement of these low-level signals without the requirement of an expensive conditioning device.

The module is also available with a secondary input, which allows the unit to perform mathematical comparisons of the two. This makes the CSSG suitable for screen-changer signaling on extruders. When combined with dual PID temperature control modules, the Modular Controller becomes an ideal solution for extruder control applications.
